Sustainable and Peaceful Family Living – How to Achieve It

Peaceful family living is very much attainable if one knows how to respect individual family members, practice self-discipline and having an open line of communication. When a person wants to live peacefully with their family, this doesn’t mean they are giving everybody in the family a silent treatment. This merely implies a great respect for everybody, right conduct and treatment, knowing one’s limitations and effective manner of speaking one’s thoughts and emotions.

1. High Regard to Everyone’s Personal Thoughts and Opinions

Knowing when to acknowledge a certain achievement done by one of your family members is a good way of showing you are paying attention to them and you are affectionate too. It is also vital that you respect each member’s ideas and even their personal belongings. Take for example, if a particular member of your family feels lonely then you must not let it pass and just leave them alone. It is vital that to ask them why and if they are ready to open up just listen to their problems. Don’t feel like you have to do something in order to fix the problem because this is their own battle, what you can do is to be their for them and give them support in anyway you can.

Another form of respect is being polite to everybody. Even those simple thank you and please is already a sign of being polite. You can even ask them how did their day turn out and just listen to what they are sharing.

Another thing that you need to know is that respect for a person’s ideas doesn’t mean you will conform to what they are telling you. Everyone has their own idea so perhaps you can also share your thoughts about a certain topic. Sometimes your children might have this wonderful ideas and listening to them can be good as well however this is not the case all the time. Sometimes what they really need is guidance and the wisdom of adults who have longer experience whenever their ideas are not that really good after all experience is the best teacher. Children have a different perspective. Learning something doesn’t always mean you have to listen from a more knowledgeable person, people with the same age as yours sometimes listening to your kids is a good avenue for learning. It is also a good thing if you are able to explain why a particular concept will not do good but nonetheless you can let them explore and apply their ideas as long as it won’t harm them.

The sad part is that people are no longer mindful of people’s age hence the respect is somehow lost in a sense, that is why it is really vital to practice this one at home especially to the younger ones. One of the common reasons why people don’t bother listening to what others has to say is that they feel like the ideas they have are just senseless and absurd. Those people have their entire lifetime to experience this one but it would be best if respect is practiced within your family after all parents are the children’s first teachers.
